The Beginning

The Beginning

I do need to give an honourable mention to my first ever camera of note which i loved so much i actually bought two of them and lost one of them for a few days. The first time i got this camera was at the end of 2008. I was about to embark on an around the world trip with my then girlfriend. We were to start in Rio and finish in Bangkok. For this i wanted a camera that was compact, did not look expensive and at the same time give great results. And boy did it..

This was the camera we plumped for as it looked inexpensive but was hopefully going to produce some photos we could have and use that showed how amazing the places we were going to were.

Downtown Hanoi by night

Army Elephant, taken from the back of a tuk tuk in Laos

Ankor Watt at sunrise

Lizzard in Vietnam.

These images above go some way to show just how amazing this lens was from low light to shallow dept of field, it was just the most amazing camera. We managed to drop it in Brazil and smash the back screen, and decided to buy another one in Argentina just because we loved what it did so much. It could even take shots in camera like these ones:

Taken at the top of a Watt in the Jungle around Ankor Watt. Using a setting on the G9 called colour Accent i was able to pick out one colour. In this case the Orange of the Monks clothes.

Feeding the Monks. Taken in Luang prabang, Laos

This camera was even left on a coach in Hanoi on the way to Halong bay but was found and sent down days later via bus to a coach station in the city of Hoi An where we picked it up along with some extra photos that had been taken on it on the way down. This is a story for another time but what it did was cement this camera and photography into my life and was the beginning of my Love and passion for taking pictures. Here are a few more from my trip, again highlighting how good the G9 is:

puerto moreno glacier, Argentina

Lightning storm, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Whitsunday's, Australia

Giant wood spider, Thailand/Burma Boarder

I Could go on and on. The images i could get, even zoomed in like this spider hanging above my bed showed just how good it was as a camera. Yes the pixels and image quality dont stand up to my DSLR Cameras and Lenses but for a little camera it gave me beautiful images that will be with me forever.
