Yellow Sun
Another wedding blog today courtesy of an amazing couple who I had the privilege of photographing at quite short notice, after their original photographer let them down about a week before they were due to get married.
The wedding was in a wonderful large barn on a farm in the country, the perfect setting and as it happened, perfect weather for their big day. I was booked for the full day - my gold package (click below for more details)
I will take this opportunity to go through the day as it happened and show how a typical wedding unfolds from the point of view of the photographer. I will do this slightly differently to my previous posts by breaking this up over a couple of entries, so the first will concentrate on the morning of the wedding, up until the ceremony.
The Morning - Bride
Starting the day with the bride, I am able to capture her getting her hair done etc with her bridesmaids and close family around her. This is a great way to relax the bride, and get her used to having her photo taken constantly.
Usually I am able to get myself into a corner of the room where I can document the build up to the wedding itself. You can feel the nervous energy and excitement in the room, as they all get themselves ready to move on to the venue itself. This creates some fantastic opportunities for some true candid moments.
This time with the bride is also great to capture the dress and her hair, once she leaves for the venue, she is in such demand from other aspects of the wedding it can be hard to get these sort of moments again with just the bride, so it is well worth doing.
The Morning - Groom
Once the bride is almost ready to go, I will head over to the venue itself. This then gives me the opportunity to meet up with the groom, who will be at the venue greeting guests and getting excited with his best men around him.
Once the Bride has arrived at the venue they will independently meet the official registrar for the wedding. I was able in this case to meet back up with the bridal party again, as they prepared to make the walk to the ceremony room.
This also made a great opportunity to get some shots of the younger members of the bridal party in their full outfits, this is important as hairbands etc are soon discarded as the day goes on.
One last shot of the nervous bride before I head off to take my place at the end of the Isle with the groom, ready then for the brides big entrance down the aisle.
Thats it for this blog post. In the next post, I will look at the ceremony itself, and photographing the couple after they have said their vows. This for me is the most important part of the day and the most difficult to get right so watch out for this over the next few days.
