2024 -A Review

So here we are again with another review, and boy did 2024 finish with a bang. Costa Rica exceeded my wildest expectations, but before we get into that, let’s give some love to some of the other images taken over the course of 2024.

Street Photography

On reflection, my street photography took a bit of a back seat but with trips to places like Croatia, I was able to get some really nice images. I did feel that the X100V has been almost replaced by the more flexible X-T5 but I would find it hard to part with a camera that made me fall back in love with photography.

Macro Photography

After getting lost down a YouTube rabbit hole I came out with a new manual macro lens which over the course of the year I added a flash, another flash (with added light) and various defusers as I delved head first into the world of the micro.

The results have been some of my most satisfying images this year as my interest grew throughout the summer. The lens has given me the opportunity to search out much closer and clearer images than I had ever been able to get before so an even closer focusing lens might be on the cards in 2025.

Cold blooded Photography

2024 for some reason turned out to be the year of the reptile/amphibian with frogs, lizards and even tortoise of all shapes and sizes featured regularly across my blogs through the year.

Bird Photography

I have been pretty spoiled this year when it comes to birds. Some of my favourite images of the year were of birds and with Costa Rica ending the year it was not hard to see why.

Fox Photography

As well as the frog glut this year, I can’t really end 2024 without some Fox photos. These have also dominated several of my blogs over the course of the summer and into the autumn as my garden became the focal point of one fox family as it raised 2 pups.

Costa Rica

And of course my yearly review would not be complete without a mention of the trip of 2024. A country I am so glad I got the opportunity to travel to, and with it some of my favourite images of 2024. Costa Rica won my heart very quickly with its sheer beauty while giving me some of my most cherished experiences as I travelled around this beautiful, vibrant and exciting corner of the world.

Getting up at 5 in the morning to go and find a resplendent quetzal was one of the many highlights of an action packed wildlife filled adventure like no other I have experienced. Not since my days in South America have I seen so many animals and birds and with the equipment now to take advantage of all the action going on around me it really was a trip of a lifetime.

So that’s all she wrote for 2024. Hell of a year with a trip for the ages at the end of it to really make 2024 a year to remember. Onwards and upwards to 2025 I say.
