Feelings
2023 kicked things off with a miserable, cold, dark and wet January as per usual. As I get older I notice more and more how much I hate this month. I did manage a couple of images to share one here, however an issue with a camera lens meant there could have been a few more.
The image of the fox above was taken after I got sick of getting ever so slightly soft images using the 1x teleconverter which I have had fixed to the FujiFilm 150-400mm lens to get closer to the subject. I realised after processing a few different images that I was producing shots that were ok at best, such as the two below.
When I was pixel peeping as I always do with my wildlife shots to find the sharpest image, I was becoming frustrated when all of the images were not standing up to my scrutiny when looked at closely. They were all just slightly soft. So I took off the tele converter and boom the issue resolved itself immediately.
Based on my analysis of this issue I think I may sell the teleconverter and put the money towards a new X-T5 which with its 40mp sensor, I should be able to crop more into an image and not lose much resolution.
Street photography with the x100v continues to be my go-to and 2023 will hopefully build on 2022 and 2021 in that respect with hopefully lots of opportunities over the year ahead to explore this area more and more.
A short trip up to Bath on one of the many cold January days gave me just such an opportunity.
With a trip to London fast approaching, things are looking up for February already. January is done so lets all pretend it never happened and move on.
