Hi My Love

The past few months have been a bit of a blur to be honest with little time for any photography of any note due to a certain baby arrival. I did manage a couple of trips out, however most of the images were confined to the garden where I was able to do some macro work as spring fully sprung.

Spot the female kestrel (above)

Big up the Merlin bird app which always brings all the resident birds to the yard. Even if they are furious about it.

I do love the odd macro, and being largely confined to my own garden for them was a bit of a limitation but it’s amazing how much activity is going on at this time of year. The green shield bugs were a perfect subject as they spent their time finding and mating in the bushes on the boarder of the garden, as was the large red damselfly which happily sat a little while for me.

The Foxes in the garden during this time were not doing so well. 2026 looked like mange had taken its grip of the resident foxes that make the bottom of the garden their home again, and this time it was too late to help them with antibiotics in dog food. Although I would see the adults basking in the spring sunshine together, a litter of pups looked a long shot sadly. This was confirmed when I found the female had succumbed to the disease outside the den entrance. I buried her as best I could by her home and watched on as the male struggled on alone looking battle scarred and thin.

Despite plight of the foxes in the garden, there was a new fox in town with the birth of my baby boy - Fox Jan Moffat who arrived into the world on the hottest day of the year so far…

I think I might be taking one or two of him in the future….
